You are confident both in front of the camera or microphone and behind the scenes, with the ability to guide students through the full production process, from idea to publication.

Essential Requirements:

  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Diploma of Screen and Media or equivalent.

  • Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in journalism, broadcasting or media.

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Experience working in a radio station, newsroom, television studio or live broadcast environment with news writing, scripting and editorial storytelling skills
  • Experience in live streaming, digital news production, or multiplatform publishing
  • Strong understanding of how journalism integrates with social media, audience engagement and analytics
  • Ability to teach students how to create engaging, platform-specific content (e.g. reels, short-form video, podcast segments)
  • Demonstrated ability in presenting (on-air radio, TV reporting, or digital presenting)
  • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, CapCut, Canva or similar with the ability to edit audio and video content quickly for multi-platform delivery

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course.  Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
