Meet Sharni
In under two years at TAFE NSW, Sharni has experienced significant career progression -from Team Leader of Aboriginal Student Support to Aboriginal Education & Engagement Coordinator.
Sharni’s growth has been supported through professional development, including the Elevate Leadership Program and ongoing capability training, leading Sharni to describe TAFE NSW as a place where ambition is encouraged and opportunities grow.

As a Disability Teacher Consultant who is deaf, David draws on his lived experience to advocate for inclusive learning environments and accessible workplaces.
David believes that TAFE NSW has actively supported him from day one, focusing on his skills and providing adjustments that enable him to collaborate and authentically connect with his colleagues and customers. 30 years into his career, for David accessibility isn’t just support - it’s empowerment to thrive, contribute, and lead with purpose.

Meet Shane
For Shane, TAFE NSW's parental leave policy gave him something truly special: time. With access to 14 weeks of paid leave and the flexibility to use it in a way that suited his family, Shane was able to step away from work and focus fully on bonding with his son.
From this, Shane feels incredibly privileged to have had that one-on-one time, allowing him to form a connection that he knows will last a lifetime.

Meet Cathy
Meet Cathy
Cathy has been teaching at TAFE NSW for over 17 year and played a key role in establishing the Mini Woolies learning facility at Loftus, a simulated supermarket environment that provides students with disabilities real-world retail experience.
The program fosters community connections and opens doors to training and employment through a partnership with Woolworths. Named 2024 Teacher of the Year, Cathy remains dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment with lasting impact.

Meet Shay
Meet Shay
For Shay, fitness is key to her wellbeing. Using Fitness Passport for nearly two years, she enjoys yoga, swimming, pilates, and strength training - all at a fraction of the usual cost.
The flexibility helped Shay during a tough personal time, providing routine and stress relief by accessing gyms and pools nearby. Before Fitness Passport, she never thought yoga or swimming suited her, but now they’re her favourite ways to unwind and are now an essential part of her weekly routine.

Meet Carter
Carter, a proud member of the Pride Network and co-chair of TAFE-Ability, champions inclusion and accessibility at TAFE NSW. Since joining in 2023, the Staff Networks have given Carter a safe, supportive community and boosted their confidence.
Born with low vision and living with ADHD and Autism, Carter uses assistive technology and values TAFE NSW's inclusive culture that celebrates diverse identities.

Meet Bill
Bill has worked in TAFE NSW’s Disability and Access Services team for nearly 20 years. Living with muscular dystrophy, Bill uses a wheelchair and assistive tools like a height-adjustable desk to support his work.
In his role, he ensures students with disabilities receive the tailored support they need to succeed. Personally, he has grown in confidence and now mentors others in his team, encouraging them to upskill and have a go. For Bill, accessibility enables purpose, and purpose drives impact across TAFE NSW.

Meet Maria
Maria brings a unique perspective as both a staff member and a parent using one of the Children’s Centres at TAFE NSW. Her two-year-old son Billy attends an on-campus centre, easing her transition back to work after maternity leave.
Having him nearby in a nurturing, flexible environment gives Maria peace of mind, even on unpredictable days. For her, it’s a key benefit that supports both her family and career.

Meet Bronessa
For Bronessa, the free weekly 1:1 personal training sessions at TAFE NSW are more than a fitness perk; they help her stay strong, support student learning, and connect with the campus community. As a mum of two teens, the sessions boost her stamina for active family time, including snowboarding trips to Perisher.
Led by fitness students, the sessions are tailored to her goals and include weights, core work, and outdoor training. It’s a weekly highlight that benefits both her wellbeing and professional life.

Meet Mili
Meet Miodrag
Miodrag (Mili) has been with TAFE NSW for 18 years, returning to teaching after starting his own hospitality career. Inspired by the energy of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Mili now shares his passion through hands-on teaching at The Apprentice restaurant on Ultimo campus.
The Apprentice gives students real-world experience in a working hospitality environment, supported by excellent on-campus facilities. Mili finds great satisfaction in seeing students grow and customers return for quality meals and service, right on campus.
