Package range: $111,798 - $132,585. Package includes salary ($98,499 - $116,813 per annum paid pro-rata) employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. (Salary offered will be based on experience).

About the role

We're seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy students by joining our team of teachers for the following opportunities, with travel required to other TAFE NSW Campuses:

• 1 x Permanent full-time at Mount Druitt Campus
• 1 x Permanent full-time at Taree Campus

In this role you will deliver educational programs and facilitate learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes. Proudly teach at the frontline of transforming educational outcomes, helping learners who may have previously faced barriers to literacy, numeracy and digital skills gain the tools they need for independence, further education, and meaningful work. By fostering foundational skills in a culturally safe and respectful learning environment, you’ll make a direct contribution to empowering a range of students including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and nurturing enduring community impact.

As a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy specialist you will deliver training through the Distance Learning SEE contract as part of the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Workplace Relations (DEWR). The SEE program provides free English language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills education to eligible learners.

Essential Requirements:

• A recognised* Bachelor degree (AQF 7) in education, with an LLND focus 

OR

• A recognised* postgraduate qualification (AQF 8 or higher) in LLND 

OR

• A qualification at AQF5 (or above) and relevant experience in an LLND area

Note: successful applicants coming in under #3 must complete Adult Literacy and Numeracy Teaching (ALaNT) + TAELLN skillset (TAESS00026 or predecessor) within 18 months of engagement (ALaNT expected to be available from S2, 2026).

* From an accredited Australian Higher Education Institution, or qualification recognised as equivalent to the stated AQF level or higher by  the Australian Government Country Education Profiles (CEPs) tool

ALaNT supports current TAFE NSW staff, both teaching and non‑teaching, who aspire to become Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) teachers. The 100‑hour program develops the practical skills needed to teach LLN across a range of adult learning contexts, including foundation skills, vocational pathways and learner support programs.

The program is suitable for educators needing to upskill in LLN and supports our commitment to addressing the national shortage of Adult LLN teachers.

• Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details) OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week 'Paid to Learn' course.
• Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry, gained no longer than five (5) years previously.

Highly regarded but not essential: Experience with online delivery and/or willingness to learn online tools. Experience with Academic English. 

This is a targeted recruitment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in accordance with Rule 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014 - Employment of eligible persons. As such, preference will be given to candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.  If no suitable candidate is found, other applications may also be considered. Aboriginal candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide “Confirmation of Aboriginality” documentation at or before interview.

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course.  Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.

Applicants for part-time positions should note that participation in the 14‑week PTL program requires full-time attendance of 35 hours per week throughout the 14 week program.
