About the role
TAFE NSW is seeking individuals with strong Information Technology knowledge to join our team as a Casual Teacher at the Wollongong West campus. This role involves delivering training to students enrolled in IT qualifications, with a mix of face-to-face and virtual classes during the day and virtual classes in the evening. Online delivery is conducted via Microsoft Teams and can be facilitated from home, offering flexibility for teaching staff.
You’ll be part of a small collaborative team and will work independently to manage your teaching schedule and classroom environment. The role requires the ability to engage students with varying levels of experience and education, using inclusive teaching strategies and effective time management to support student success. This is a great opportunity to contribute to vocational education and help learners build skills for the future workforce.
About You
You’re a passionate and experienced IT professional, and as a qualified teacher you thrive on sharing your knowledge and inspiring others. With a strong understanding of current industry practices and a commitment to staying up to date, you bring real-world expertise into the classroom to help students succeed.
You have excellent communication skills and can confidently deliver engaging lessons both face-to-face during the day and virtually in the evenings via Microsoft Teams. Whether you're teaching in person or online, you create inclusive and supportive learning environments that cater to a diverse range of students.
You’re self-motivated and capable of working independently within a small yet collaborative team. You’re comfortable managing your own schedule and delivering training with minimal supervision, while maintaining high standards of professionalism and student engagement.

To be successful in the role you will:
1. Hold appropriate subject knowledge, skills and hold a minimum Certificate IV in Information Technology or equivalent, and a commitment to maintain technical currency.
2. Have a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
3. Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document (here) for details
4. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
