About the role

As a General Assistant / Toolstore Person, you will play an important hands‑on role supporting students and teachers in practical trade learning environments. You will help to ensure workshops, tool stores and learning areas are set up, organised and ready for classes. This includes preparing and issuing tools and equipment, ordering and storing materials, and helping keep work areas safe, clean and tidy.

This is an active role that may involve lifting and moving equipment. Applicants must be physically able to safely lift, push and pull, including assisting with deliveries. You will work closely with teaching staff to support daily class operations and help create a positive learning experience for students.

These casual opportunities support training across trade industries including Agriculture, Automotive, Construction and Engineering at our Dubbo and Narrabri campuses.

About You 

This is a hands‑on support role suited to someone who enjoys practical work and working with others. You are someone who:

  • Enjoys working in a workshop or trade environment
  • Is reliable, organised and willing to help where needed
  • Can follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Takes pride in keeping tools, equipment and work areas clean and organised
  • Is physically able to carry out manual handling tasks as part of daily work
  • Is willing to work flexible casual hours to support classes and operations

Essential criteria

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement)
  • Experience working in a trade or workshop environment, such as Agriculture, Automotive, Construction, Engineering or a related field
  • Experience using hand and power tools, small machinery, or workshop equipment
  • Basic experience ordering, handling, storing or maintaining tools, equipment or materials
  • Ability to follow work health and safety (WHS) procedures, including correct use of PPE
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage tasks with minimal supervision

Highly desirable:

  • Current Forklift licence
  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, in particular Microsoft excel, word and outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience in following WH&S instructions such as using correct PPE and following safe operating procedures.
