Package range: $108,057 - $128,149. Package includes salary ($95,630-$113,411 per annum) employer's superannuation and annual leave loading (salary offered will be based on experience).

About the role

We’re seeking passionate educators to join our team as a permanent full-time Teacher – Sustainability and Renewables, based at Tighes Hill Campus. In this role, you will help shape the workforce of tomorrow by delivering practical, industry-focused training in renewable energy technologies and sustainable manufacturing practices.

You will play a vital part in designing and delivering programs that cover clean energy systems such as solar, wind, hydro, and emerging technologies, alongside principles of energy efficiency, sustainability frameworks, and circular economy practices. The role also involves working with advanced facilities, maintaining training equipment, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure training remains current, practical, and aligned with industry standards. You will also engage with employers and community partners to co-design programs that meet the growing demand for skills in sustainability and net zero industries.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications & Industry Expertise: Hold appropriate subject knowledge, skills, and vocational qualifications with a minimum of a Advance Diploma in Renewable Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry in renewable energy systems, sustainability practices, or clean energy technologies.
  • Technical Competence: Proven ability to apply and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, or sustainable manufacturing, with the capability to deliver hands-on, practice-based training.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and industry stakeholders in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details ) OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week 'Paid to Learn' course.

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Advanced Qualifications in Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
  • Specialist Knowledge in areas such as solar PV, wind, hydro, hydrogen, energy storage, energy efficiency, or circular economy principles.
  • Experience in Sustainability Integration, including embedding clean energy and sustainability practices into industry operations or training delivery.
  • Curriculum and Training Development, with experience in designing or adapting training to reflect new technologies and industry practices.
  • Digital Competence, including simulation tools, digital twins, or smart grid modelling.
  • Industry Collaboration, demonstrated through partnerships, projects, or co-designed training solutions with employers, government, or community stakeholders.

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course.  Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
