We invest in our people

At TAFE NSW, you will discover a diverse, dynamic, and collaborative environment, where you can innovate, create value, and do meaningful work.

We provide you with tools and ongoing training and professional development, health and wellbeing programs and a 35 hour working week with a variety of flexible working options.

About the role

As the Regional Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager, you will be the driving force behind building a strong safety culture across TAFE NSW regional operations. This role will see you leading WHS strategy and embedding safe practices into teaching, learning and workplace activities. You will work closely with senior leaders, educators, and frontline staff to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and create safer campuses for our students, staff and community partners.

While the base location for this position is negotiable, it is limited to campuses within the Sydney (Eastern) Region, subject to campus availability.

About You

You are an experienced WHS leader who is motivated to influence culture and embed safe practices across a complex and dispersed organisation. You bring the ability to manage high‑risk incidents and investigations, translate findings into practical improvements, and lead change initiatives that strengthen organisational safety. You are also adept at writing clear, concise, and effective reports that support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. Resilient and adaptable, you thrive in a dynamic regional environment and can balance competing priorities with composure.

A natural communicator and collaborator, you are able to engage effectively with executives, teachers, frontline staff and contractors, adapting your style to different audiences and building trusted relationships. You will also work closely with colleagues across TAFE, including Infrastructure, the Product and Quality Group, Learning and Teaching, and other key stakeholders, to ensure safety is deeply embedded in every aspect of the organisation. You are committed to developing and motivating teams, providing professional guidance and inspiring others to prioritise safety. Most importantly, you bring integrity, courage and a genuine passion for creating safe, inclusive and supportive workplaces that not only ensure compliance but also enhance the wellbeing of staff, students and the broader community.
