About the role

TAFE NSW is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join the Graphic Design teaching team on a permanent full-time basis at Hornsby campus. The successful candidate will bring industry experience in Graphic Design and Visual Communication, with specialist expertise in one or more of the following areas: graphic design practice, creative industry workflows, UX/UI, branding, typography, digital illustration or web design.

This position plays a key role in preparing the next generation of designers for careers across the creative industries. Share your skills and passion while helping students build the skills, qualifications and confidence to achieve their career goals.

You will deliver engaging and contemporary learning experiences to students from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. By connecting current industry practice with vocational education, you will help students develop the technical, creative and professional skills needed to thrive in an evolving design landscape.

About You

As a design and visual communication educator, you bring a wide range of skills, including classroom delivery and assessment.

You have excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills and respond effectively to diverse learning needs. Your experience includes working both independently and as part of a team.

You have experience with students and the larger audience across various roles such as providing information, problem-solving, presenting student exhibitions, and demonstrating organisational skills.

To be successful in the role , you will

1. Hold a Diploma of Graphic Design or bachelor’s degree in design (Graphic Design) or equivalent qualification and a commitment to maintain technical currency.
2. Have a Minimum of three years post-qualification experience in professional practice, gained no longer than five years previously.
3.  Hold Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document (here) for details
4. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
