      About us 

      TAFE NSW’s purpose is to advance the Government’s social and economic objectives by delivering vocational education and training to build the skills base of the State and enable rewarding career opportunities for NSW residents. As the core public provider, TAFE NSW has a community service obligation to increase equitable access to lifelong education and training. 

      About the role 

      The TAFE NSW Higher Education Governing Body (THEGB) is accountable for providing assurance that the organisation’s higher education operations are operating effectively and sustainably, and for ensuring clear links between higher education academic governance and corporate governance at TAFE NSW. 

      There is an opportunity for two independent members of the THEGB. THEGB members will be remunerated on an annual basis, inclusive of attending four (4) virtual meetings per year, including meeting preparation. Members of the Board are remunerated $1,600 per meeting. THEGB members will be appointed for a 3-year term. 

      About you 

      Experience in higher education is essential to this role, with a preference for experience in dual sector providers (VET/Higher Education). You will also need to be prepared to be accountable for the awarding of higher education qualifications. We are looking for candidates who also have experience in the following areas: 

      • strategic leadership and performance management 

      • governance 

      • risk management 

      • higher education quality improvement and compliance, and  

      • the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
