$126,168 – $132,556 salary package – includes base salary ($111,159 – $116,787), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

A day in the life of an Aboriginal Employment Advocate

Our team mantra is People, Purpose, Passion – this is more than words; it is the way we work and operate as a team.

As an Aboriginal Employment Advocate, you will play an important role in supporting Aboriginal employment, inclusion and career development across TAFE NSW.

Working closely with the Manager of Aboriginal Employment, Aboriginal Employment Specialists, Talent Acquisition and teams across TAFE NSW, you will help deliver initiatives that strengthen the attraction, engagement, employment and retention of Aboriginal people.

This is a hands-on and relationship-focused role where you will support Aboriginal employees throughout their employment journey, including career development, induction, mentoring and development opportunities. You will also contribute to employment programs, projects and initiatives that create pathways into TAFE NSW and strengthen Aboriginal representation across our workforce.

You will build strong relationships across TAFE NSW and with Aboriginal communities and organisations, helping connect people, opportunities and initiatives to create meaningful and sustainable employment outcomes.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Aboriginal employment and creating positive employment experiences and opportunities for Aboriginal people.

You will be someone who enjoys building genuine relationships, working collaboratively and turning ideas and initiatives into practical outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Aboriginality – Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Candidates selected for interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
  • An understanding of human resources and workforce strategies that support sustainable employment and improve employment outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • The ability to build strong and respectful relationships with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals, as well as a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide practical support and advice.
  • The ability to coordinate and contribute to projects, programs and initiatives and keep work progressing across multiple priorities.
  • A genuine interest in supporting Aboriginal employees with career development, employment pathways and opportunities.

These requirements reflect the role’s essential focus on HR/workforce strategies, Aboriginal employment outcomes and productive relationships with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.
