About the role

We are looking to create an eligibility list of casual Technical Assistants to support our teaching teams across the Dubbo and Orange campuses. We are seeking candidates with practical skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Horticulture
  • Agriculture
  • Automotive
  • Engineering
  • Construction

As a Technical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting high‑quality training by preparing materials, equipment, and learning environments across our trade workshops. You will contribute to the smooth delivery of practical training by providing hands‑on support to teachers, assisting with demonstrations, and ensuring tools and machinery are ready and safe for use.

You will also be responsible for the ongoing care, maintenance, and organisation of equipment, tools, and facilities in line with Work Health and Safety requirements, helping to maintain a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

This eligibility list will be used to fill casual vacancies as they arise across Dubbo and Orange.

About You 

You have relevant trade qualifications and practical experience in a workshop or trade environment, giving you a strong understanding of tools, equipment and safe work practices. You are proactive, organised, and able to prioritise the resources needed to support teachers and students, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.

You take pride in maintaining a well‑presented, efficient workspace and bring a strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety. Your approach is collaborative, values‑driven, and service‑focused, and you enjoy contributing to a team environment where reliability and integrity are essential.

To be considered for this role you must meet all essential requirements listed below

  1. Trade qualifications appropriate to the role and trades area (Horticulture, Agriculture, Automotive, Engineering, Construction)
  2. Demonstrated ability to service, clean, repair and safely operate workshop machinery.
  3. Demonstrated application of practical, administration and computer skills to support supply, stores, maintenance, warehouse related duties and record keeping or similar activities.
  4. Possession of or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of employment, the following:

Essential

  • Forklift Licence
  • Drivers Licence

Highly desirable

  • First Aid Certificate
