About the role

We’re seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of students wanting to work in the Outdoor Leadership Sector!

Share your skills and passion for your industry, help students build the skills, qualifications, and employability to support their career goals.

The Temporary Outdoor Leadership Teacher position involves delivering high-quality training and assessment in both classroom and field environments as part of the statewide Outdoor Leadership section. Teaching responsibilities include on-campus sessions at Tighes Hill as well as practical instruction across a variety of outdoor locations, with some multi-day and overnight field trips required. The role covers skills areas and core units aligned with the national Outdoor Leadership Training Package, supporting students in developing the competencies needed for industry-standard leadership and adventure-based education. With two main delivery points—Newcastle and the Blue Mountains—and field activities that may involve travel of up to seven hours, the position offers a diverse and rewarding opportunity to educate and inspire future outdoor professionals.
In addition to on-site and field-based delivery, the role requires strong computer literacy and the ability to effectively manage administrative and teaching responsibilities in an office environment. This includes the use of learning management systems to upload resources, track student progress, and complete assessment reporting in line with TAFE NSW standards. The position also involves preparing digital learning materials, maintaining accurate training records, and communicating with students and colleagues via email and online platforms. Proficiency in standard office software is essential to support lesson planning, documentation, and compliance requirements. These office-based responsibilities underpin and support the broader statewide Outdoor Leadership section, ensuring consistency, quality assurance, and seamless coordination between delivery locations such as Newcastle and the Blue Mountains.

Please note: Interviews are planned for after the TAFE NSW Easter vacation period, which ends on 19 April. Communication regarding interview scheduling will occur once we return.
