$111,798 – $132,585 salary package - includes base salary ($98,499 – $116,813), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (pro-rata)

About the role

Join TAFE NSW as a Teacher Marine Craft Construction and play a key role in developing the next generation of skilled marine industry professionals. Working within a supportive and collaborative teaching team, you will deliver practical, industry-relevant training that helps students build the skills and confidence they need for successful careers. You will use your current marine craft construction knowledge and industry expertise to create engaging learning experiences, assess student outcomes and ensure training remains aligned with contemporary industry practices and technologies.

This position offers variety and flexibility, with face-to-face delivery across a non-standard work pattern and no evening commitments. You'll work with enthusiastic students in a modern training environment that includes contemporary equipment and interactive delivery methods. There may also be opportunities to travel occasionally to support remote delivery and ensure quality training reaches students across different locations.

About You

You are an experienced marine craft construction professional with current industry skills and knowledge, including an understanding of modern technologies and practices relevant to the sector. Passionate about sharing your expertise, you enjoy helping others learn and can adapt your teaching approach to suit a range of learning styles, ensuring students remain engaged and supported throughout their training journey. The role requires strong communication skills, industry credibility and a commitment to maintaining professional and technical currency.

You bring patience, resilience and the ability to confidently manage classroom dynamics, including supporting students who may require additional guidance to stay focused and productive. A team player with a positive attitude, you'll thrive in a supportive teaching environment and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality vocational education. Flexible, organised and student-focused, you are committed to helping learners achieve their goals while contributing to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

To be successful in the role, you will:

1. Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction (Shipwright). 
2. Have a minimum of five years post-qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
3. Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.
4. Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.
