About the role
The TAFE Commission Board (the Board) is a key advisory board established under the Technical and Further Education TAFE Act 1990 (the TAFE Act) to make recommendations to the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education (the Minister). The Board typically meets 6 times a year.
Members of the TAFE Commission Board must have qualifications and experience in the areas of management, industry, commerce, industrial relations, higher education, vocational education and training or community service.
To strengthen the skills, knowledge, and diversity of the Board, the NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education is inviting Expressions of Interest to fill a current vacancy on the Board, as well as future vacancies from applicants who:
Have industry experience in one of NSW’s critical skills areas, such as:
Construction (housing and infrastructure)
Net Zero and energy transition
Digital and cyber
Care and support economy
Agriculture and agrifood
Advanced manufacturing
Reflect the diverse communities that TAFE NSW serves, including, but not limited to: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, rural and regional community representatives, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, young people aged 24 and under, people with disabilities, and the LGBTIQ+ community.

Members of the Board are remunerated $30,591 per annum plus superannuation.
