At TAFE NSW, we are dedicated to life-changing impact.

That’s why we offer world-class training and education that delivers the skills needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

We live by TAFE NSW values: Customer Focus, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence. They define who we are, how we work and inspire our performance.

We invest in our people.

At TAFE NSW, you will discover a diverse, dynamic, and collaborative environment, where you can innovate, create value, and do meaningful work.

We provide you with tools and ongoing training and professional development, health and wellbeing programs, and depending on your role, a variety of flexible working options.

About the role

Located in the heart of Western Sydney, the Macquarie Fields Suburban Study Hub is designed to make tertiary education more accessible for local students. The Hub offers campus-style study spaces, on-site academic and administrative support, and a range of student services. Open to learners enrolled in any Australian tertiary institution, the Study Hub creates opportunities for students to pursue post-secondary education without the need to travel or relocate, making higher education more achievable for residents from Macquarie Fields and surrounding communities.

As a Suburban Study Hub Learning Skills Advisor, you’ll play a hands-on role supporting students from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the world of higher education. You’ll provide one-on-one help with enrolment processes, HECS information, assignment support, scholarship navigation, and using VET and higher education systems. A key part of your role will be helping students understand the often-confusing academic language and processes of their education provider and supporting them to confidently communicate with their provider.

Beyond academic support, you’ll also offer general wellbeing and career guidance, connecting students to support services and community networks when needed. You’ll contribute to promoting the Study Hub, strengthening relationships with local schools, council, and educational partners, and ensuring the Study Hub remains welcoming, safe, and student focused. This is a collaborative and varied role where no two days will be the same.

This innovative project is supported by the Australian Government through the Suburban University Study Hubs Program.

About you

  • Knowledge of the workings of the VET and higher education sector.

  • An all-rounder who thrives in a dynamic environment, bringing a broad skill set and a can-do attitude to whatever the day demands.

  • A warm, emotionally intelligent and caring person.

  • A well organised and enthusiastic self-starter.

  • A great communicator, connector and collaborator with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • An individual who is dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic about creating opportunities for students.

Highly regarded:

  • Tertiary level qualifications related to education, training, social work, business administration, career guidance, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Offer personalised career guidance and recruitment advice to support students, prospective students, and recent graduates in enhancing employability.
