About the role

We are looking for motivated and skilled individuals to join our Class Support team as a General Assistant / Toolstore on a temporary (until December 2025), part time, part year basis.

A General Assistant Toolstore plays a vital role in assisting with the delivery of educational programs.  Your experience in a trade environment and well-developed knowledge of tools and equipment will be key in this role.  Your initiative to identify and organise resources required by students and staff will deliver service excellence.

Your day-to-day activities will include but not limited to supporting our delivery teams by contributing to a positive learning experience, general administration work, purchasing and organising tools, equipment and materials and maintaining a safe workshop environment for students and staff.  This position will carry out manual handling activities.

Current opportunities in this team include:

• x1 Part time, part year (4 hours / week, 36 weeks / year), temporary role based at Parkes (Thursday night class 6pm – 10pm)
• x1 Part time, part year (4 hours / week, 36 weeks / year), temporary role based at Forbes (Wednesday night class 6pm – 10pm)
• x1 Part time, part year (18 hours / week, 36-39 weeks / year), temporary role based at Forbes (3 x day classes)

About You

We are looking for a self-motivated, disciplined individual who has the ability to meet the following Essential Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience working within a trade environment or related work area
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of purchasing within a trade environment
• Demonstrated experience in the use of hand and power tools, small machinery and tool maintenance
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member or with limited supervision

Highly desirable:

• Forklift Licence
• Experience in the Metal Fabrication & Welding / Engineering Industry
• Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, in particular excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Demonstrated experience in following WH&S instructions such as using correct PPE and following safe operating procedures
