About the role

TAFE NSW is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with current experience in the education sector to join the TAFE Digital Prevocational Education team as an Education Support Officer – General Education at the Strathfield Campus. This role involves providing support for core subjects equivalent to Year 10 to 12 level courses.

As an Education Support Officer within Prevocational Education, you will be responsible for a range of project management and student assistance activities, which directly and indirectly supports learning and enhances the educative process.

Reporting to the Head Teacher, this position:

  • Provides personalised support to students to successfully carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts.
  • Works in conjunction with Teachers, learning support staff and other roles as part of a specialised delivery team.
  • When required, provides tutoring support and feedback by face-to-face contact, email, online or by other mode using a range of media options.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum Diploma in Education or higher qualification in a related field.
  • Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.

Highly regarded:

  • Have 3 – 5 years relevant educational experience
  • Experience in the field of High School Education
