About the role

The Director of Facilities Management is instrumental in providing hands-on leadership and strategic direction for planning, operations, and service delivery across TAFE NSW. This crucial role involves managing a geographically dispersed teams with diverse staff and overseeing customer-oriented services and strategies across the organisation's property portfolio. The responsibilities encompass building and maintaining a responsive governance framework and ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

In addition to addressing key challenges and strategic plans, the Director plays a critical role in building team and governance maturity for the growth of our facilities management operations. This includes evaluating and implementing practical, effective, and sustainable service delivery models tailored to diverse organisational and stakeholder needs. Efficiently managing conflicting priorities among multiple stakeholders in a wide geographic area across NSW is a central focus of this dynamic position with the overall goal to achieve strategic planning objectives, maintain compliance, and enhance the performance of facilities management operations at TAFE NSW.

About You 

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of expertise, leadership, and experience, with relevant qualifications in engineering, construction, or property management, and a proven track record in managing high-value property or facility portfolios for large organisations across wide geographic areas. They will demonstrate a strategic mindset, leveraging data to refine systems, increase efficiency, and enhance organisational agility. A clear and approachable communicator, they will foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture within a multi-skilled workforce.

With experience leading geographically dispersed teams, the candidate will effectively balance central oversight with local needs to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. They will show strong self-management, drive, and a proactive, solutions-focused, customer-centric approach to addressing challenges. Their leadership will inspire teams and drive results aligned with TAFE NSW’s commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainable outcomes.
