Aboriginal Employment

Connecting people, purpose, and passion.

TAFE NSW is committed to growing and developing a talented and adaptable Aboriginal workforce.

We have opportunities for Aboriginal people right across the organisation in a wide range of roles and at all levels – from trainees to managers and executive roles – and our experienced Aboriginal Employment Advisors offer dedicated support to Aboriginal people who are interested in a career of life-changing impact with TAFE NSW.

Aboriginal Employment Strategy

We are embarking on building stronger foundations to not only meet our initial goal of achieving 3.5% Aboriginal workforce by 2027 but also ensuring our local TAFE NSW campuses replicate our local communities.

Take a look at our Aboriginal Employment Strategy.

Aboriginal Targeted and Identified Positions

If a position is advertised as Aboriginal Targeted, this position is targeted at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under Government Sector Employment Rule 26. This does not prevent non-Aboriginal applicants from applying.

For all Aboriginal Identified roles, applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent by parentage, identify as being Aboriginal, and be accepted in the community as such. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
