Total Remuneration Package $149,366 (Package includes base salary $119,757 - $132,188 p.a plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

About the role

The Product Data Scientist is a pivotal role within TAFE NSW's Insights & Innovation unit. You'll be at the forefront of applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, and potentially even generative AI to revolutionize how we deliver education and training. This role plays a key role in extraction, analysis, processing and presentation of complex data, insights and actionable recommendations.

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic data professional with strong data processing, data science, analytical, visualisation and troubleshooting abilities. You are technically skilled and are comfortable wrangling data from large and diverse sources, including cloud platforms, APIs, and databases. You have a strong foundation in machine learning (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and statistical analysis to uncover hidden patterns and build impactful models. You finally transform complex data into compelling business narratives with recommendations.

You would be comfortable extracting insights from structured or unstructured data and would have the ability to present to a largely non-technical educators and decision makers. Understanding and addressing potential biases in models will be a part of your DNA. You are always working to improve your technical knowledge and expertise, to develop and support state-of-the-art data processing, machine learning and data visualisation pipelines in a dynamic environment.

This would also be a great position for someone interested in building upon their recently acquired Data Science skills and applying them in an industry setting.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification in related field or equivalent significant experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on real-world product development.
  • Knowledge of a variety of advanced statistical and machine learning techniques and their real-world advantages and disadvantages, and a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, R, Julia, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets.

Highly Regarded
1.    Experience with SQL and relational databases
2.    Experience in deploying Data Science pipelines using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services 
3.    Experience with Power BI and or Tableau
