$141,364 package includes salary ($124,547 - $137,476), employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

As a Network Security Engineer at TAFE NSW, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for overseeing network security operations, monitoring and maintaining systems, and proactively managing vulnerabilities to ensure compliance and resilience. Working within the Digital Solutions Group, you’ll collaborate with other security professionals to implement advanced security solutions, respond to incidents, and support continuous improvement across a complex and evolving technology environment.  This position includes an afterhours on-call requirement to meet operational needs.

About You 

You are a highly skilled and motivated security professional with deep expertise in network security operations. You bring significant experience in ICT infrastructure engineering and a strong understanding of cyber security principles. Your ability to analyse SIEM data, resolve CVEs, and implement robust security protocols enables you to thrive in complex environments. You’re a collaborative team player who communicates effectively, prioritises customer service, and is committed to continuous learning and improvement. You’re also flexible and ready to respond to afterhours operational requirements when needed.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in relevant discipline, relevant industry certification or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Significant experience in ICT Infrastructure Engineering roles with specialist technical capabilities relevant to the role in a large organisation with complex technology systems or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience applying information security and/or cyber security principles and concepts.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-call afterhours to meet operational requirements. 

 Highly Regarded:

  • Experience with the ASD Essential 8 and implementation, Cisco FTD/FMC, ISE, Web proxies, Load balancers, WAF , WAN and LAN edge device management, Fortigates , Azure, AWS and OCI .
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a geographically dispersed team of technical professionals.
