About the role

Join our team at TAFE NSW and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education through our library services. We are seeking a dynamic Librarian to be a Team Leader, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and excellence in service delivery. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring a dedicated team of 2 staff members at our Miller campus or 4 staff members at our Wetherill Park campus. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Librarian to take a step up in their career within a leadership role!

The Librarian role involves providing professional library and information services, developing innovative customer-focused library and information services and systems, and supporting the education goals and future directions of TAFE NSW. The role requires delivering high-quality face-to-face and online information and library services to meet the needs of TAFE NSW’s diverse customers, providing information literacy instruction to develop effective independent use of information resources, and supporting and referring customers with their information and learning needs. The Librarian will also liaise with teaching and other staff to provide library and information services, contribute to the development, maintenance, and evaluation of relevant high-quality, library and information collections and library guides meeting the information needs of customers.

This is an on-site customer facing role at the Miller or Wetherill Park campus, working from home arrangements are not available. Travel to other campus locations within the region’s network will be required.

About You 

You have excellent communication skills and are able to interact with a diverse range of customers including students, teachers, and other staff members. You have strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You can provide digital and information literacy instruction to customers and stakeholders to develop effective independent use of information resources. You will maintain currency in current and emerging technologies and educational trends to provide relevant and responsive high-quality face-to-face and online information and library services to meet the needs of TAFE NSW’s diverse customers.

Additionally, to be considered for this opportunity, you MUST hold an ALIA accredited library and information science Bachelor or Post Graduate qualification and hold/be eligible for Associate membership of Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
