For general enquiries, our TAFE NSW Talent Management & Acquisition team can be contacted via careers@tafensw.edu.au. For job specific enquiries, please contact the Talent Acquisition Advisor listed in the advert.

  • A current resume outlining your work experience, skills, and qualifications. Where possible, tailor your resume to the requirements of the role you are applying for.
  • If you have a current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC), you will be asked to provide this number in the application form.

The following items may also be required depending on the role. If required, they will be listed in the application requirements of the job advert:

  • A brief cover letter addressing the essential requirements of the role as outlined in the position description
  • Responses to targeted questions (answers must be provided within the specified word count)
  • Copies of qualifications or certifications

The Essential Requirements describe the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to perform the duties of a role. These can be found in the position description.

Some roles at TAFE NSW also include capabilities aligned to the NSW PSC Capability Framework. These help us assess how candidates demonstrate behaviours and transferable skills relevant to the role. If the position uses the Capability Framework, you'll see a list of Focus Capabilities in the position description. Focus Capabilities are usually assessed at interview & assessment stage of the recruitment process. Using a structured response technique such as the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) can help you prepare strong examples from your experience to demonstrate how you meet these capabilities.

To be eligible for roles at TAFE NSW, you must be an Australian Citizen, a Permanent Resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport.

If the position you are applying for requires academic qualifications, certificates, or licences, you should provide copies as part of your online application. Certified copies are preferred, as these will be required if you are successful for the role.

The academic and professional qualifications of candidates recommended for a position may be verified with the relevant issuing institution.

In addition, if you are successful, you will be required to undertake a National Criminal Records Check to determine suitability for employment. This will be arranged by our Talent Management & Acquisition Team when required.

A person who is unwilling to give consent cannot be employed.

If you are successful in your application for the role, you are required to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance as a condition of employment. If you do already have a current paid WWCC number, please include this within your application form where prompted.

Please note: a volunteer WWCC will not be accepted.

Referee reports form an important part of the selection process.

Applicants are required to provide the details of up to two (2) professional referees when requested, usually after interviews are conducted. Your referees must be a manager you reported to, ideally your current and/or most recent previous line managers.

References will typically be completed online via XREF, a secure platform, and you will be asked to provide the following details:

  • Referee/s Name
  • Current and/or previous position title
  • The referee's relationship to you (e.g. direct supervisor, team leader, senior manager within your organisation)
  • Their contact details, including email and telephone number/s

TAFE NSW is committed to creating a culturally safe and accessible workplace where dignity, trust, respect, and the promotion of diversity and inclusion are valued, so you can safely bring your whole self to work and connect with your community through our many diverse employee networks.

If you require an adjustment in the workplace or throughout the recruitment process, please contact the Talent Acquisition Advisor listed in the advert and/or include the details within your application where prompted.

TAFE NSW supports flexible working arrangements wherever the role allows. This might look like hybrid working (such as 3 days in the office/ 2 days working from home), or adjusting hours to better suit your needs.

When you see "location negotiable" on a job ad, it usually means the role can be based at your preferred TAFE NSW campus location (pending desk availability) - the hiring manager will discuss options with the successful candidate. Not all roles are able to accommodate hybrid working, so we recommend checking the job advertisement or asking the contact person listed in the advert for more detail.

We know flexibility matters - and we’ll work with you to find the right fit wherever possible.

The Welcome Experience is a free service providing tailored support to essential workers and their families who are considering moving or have made the move to Regional NSW. The Welcome Experience is available across 55 local government areas covering rural, regional and coastal New South Wales.
